Is physiotherapy for me?

Anyone can be affected by pain and though it can stem from major injuries, illness or disability, it can also manifest from your daily routines. There are many common causes of pain that can require the same care and treatment as more obvious injuries.

How treatment works

The initial appointment takes a detailed account of the nature of your condition/injury, will get a general summary of your medical background and complete a detailed physical examination. All appointments are 45 minutes with the initial assessments including in depth assessment plus treatment time and follow up sessions having a brief reassessment with the majority of the session dedicated to treatment time.

Common conditions we treat

  • Arthritis
  • Neck and back pain
  • Headaches

Is sports therapy for me?

Sports therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of the patient’s age, ability or cause of injury. Our sports therapist specialises in injuries and sports performance.

How treatment works

Just the same as with a physiotherapy appointment the therapist will take an in-depth and thorough history of your injury and then complete a full physical assessment of the problem before starting treatment. The session will include hands-on treatment specific to the nature of the problem as well as advice and exercises to ensure the problem resolves to get you back to your normal sporting or occupational activities as soon as possible. Fitness and training programmes will be discussed as part of treatment in order to regain full function and prevent the problem re-occurring. Maintenance and preventative sports massage, before and after your sporting event, is also a key part of the sports therapy treatment available at Saxilby Physiotherapy & Well-being.

Common conditions we treat

  • Sports injuries
  • Sports/performance-related issues
  • Sprains and strains
  • Sports massage
  • Training programme advice and rehabilitation following injuries
  • and much more.

Is physiotherapy/sports therapy for me?

It is natural to be unsure whether our treatment approach will be right for you, or whether it will benefit you. Please feel free to contact our team to discuss any queries or to discuss whether physiotherapy or sports therapy may benefit you.

Our physiotherapists are HCPC registered which gives you assurances over the standards of care that we provide but if you have any queries regarding this we are happy to answer any questions.

Sports therapy is not currently a recognised profession by the HCPC but our sports therapist works to the same high standards and codes of conduct as our physiotherapists and he has completed a full sports therapy degree, unlike so many ‘sports therapists’ who have only completed a basic sports massage course.

If you have any questions about the treatments the clinic can offer then please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will happily discuss your needs, thank you

Our physiotherapists are regulated by the Health & Care Professions Council
